Former Governor of New Mexico and now CEO of Cannabis Sativa, Inc. stated recently that marijuana is"potentially an actual cure" for the Ebola virus
. Further backing his position is Johnson's medical director who predicts that marijuana "will help the survival of this deadly disease." Some are calling the Governor's claims no more believable than a snake oil salesman who's only out for profit, as there has been no clinical research done thus far to support his position. Still, Cannabis Sativa argues that cannabinoids inhibit VEGF and other Cytokines, which is vitally important in countering Ebola's deadly effects. Regardless of the debate, Cannabis Sativa is calling for the medical community to start human trials of the livability of Ebola in infected patients, as only research on actual patients will determine if these claims are true.
